The Police Regional Office 7 reported yesterday that it neutralized the most notorious hitman in Central Visayas, after he was killed during a police operation in Bayawan City, Negros Oriental.
In a statement, the PRO 7 identified the killed fugitive as Alex Manegos Mayagma, of Brgy. Minaba, Bayawan City.
Mayagma, who topped the list of most wanted persons in Region 7, has pending arrest warrants for four murder cases, issued by Bayawan Judge Maria Myla Rae Santos Orden, two more arrest warrants for violation of RA 10591, or illegal possession of firearms, and a violation of the Comelec gun ban.
PCol. Ronan Claravall, provincial police director of Negros Oriental, in his report submitted to PRO 7, disclosed that Mayagma was cornered by the police following an intricate operation in Brgy. Malabugas, Bayawan City.
Mayagma was shot by the arresting police officers after he tried to open fire at them, during the serving of arrest warrants.
The fugitive was immediately brought to a hospital for treatment, but was declared dead on arrival at the medical facility, according to the police.
The whole operation was captured by the body-worn cameras utilized by the operatives, the PRO 7 said.
PBrig. Gen. Anthony Aberin, PRO 7 regional director, said the notable accomplishment that led to arrest Mayagma was the result of tedious intelligence driven-operations.
Aberin assured the Negros Oriental residents that PRO 7 will conduct bold and impactful operations against hardened criminals, to swiftly serve justice to those victimized by heinous crimes, with the assurance that violence and lawlessness will have no place in the province.*
