The Leonardo Panaligan Command of the New People’s Army has owned up to another killing of a civilian tagged by the rebel group as a military informant, on April 11 in Sitio Mag-ubay, Brgy. Hiba-iyo, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental.
In a statement, Ka JB Regalado, spokesman of the Leonardo Panaligan Command, said that the victim, Arman Babor, claimed to be a member of the NPA who surrendered to the military in 2018.
Prior to the imposition of a death penalty against him by the revolutionary court, Regalado said Babor had been repeatedly warned to stop his spying activities against the NPA, which he ignored.
Initial investigation of the Guihulngan City police showed that Babor was eating breakfast with members of his family when a group of armed rebels barged into their house, and shot him several times.
Babor succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds, including fatal injuries in the head. He died on the spot, according to the police.
Three empty M16 assault rifle shells were recovered by the police from the scene of incident.
Two days earlier, the Leonardo Panaligan Command, in another statement, also claimed responsibility for the killing of Danilo de Baja, 63, in Brgy. Macagahay, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental.*
