The New People’s Army Romeo Nanta Command has issued a statement claiming responsibility for the death of a former member of the Revolutionary Proletarian Army-Alex Boncayao Brigade (RPA-ABB) on May 19 in Barangay Santol, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental.
In a statement, rebel spokesman Dionesio Magbuelas alleged that the victim, Joseph Agustin, 38, served as an alleged military informant of the Army’s 94th Infantry Battalion.
Police investigations showed that the victim was on his way to Purok Vanda from the poblacion when an unidentified gunman fired at him several times.
Recovered from the scene of the incident were six empty caliber .45 shells.
Magbuelas claimed in a statement that Agustin had been a member of the RPA-ABB in 2014, and became an alleged intelligence asset of the 94IB, who allegedly served as a guide in military operations.
In another statement, the Roselyn Jean Pelle Command said they executed Jemar Mahusay, 53, in Sitio Agbalatuan, Barangay Dolis on May 5, and Gerry Baitan, 53, in Sitio Proper, Barangay Minautok on May 13.*
