To streamline their services, the Office of the Building Official (OBO) in Bacolod City launched an electronic kiosk yesterday for online applications of building and occupancy permits.
Mayor Greg Gasataya stated that this initiative is to avoid fixers in the Bacolod City government offices.
“As much as possible, we are pushing for a no face-to-face in government transactions like OBO permits,” he said.
The e-kiosk is a self-service computer terminal that will expedite the processing of permits in OBO.
The clients will simply upload their application through the e-kiosk for online monitoring and a printed quick response (QR) code will be given while their documents will be submitted via an enclosed reception area.
Through the QR code, they can monitor the progress of their documents and will be notified once their applications are verified and approved.
Officer-in-charge of the OBO Engr. Amy Tentia said that the system of the e-kiosk is being managed by the Department of Information and Communications Technology.
“This is a really big help for the anti-red tape, since as you can recall, we received a lot of complaints in OBO and we still have pending cases filed,” Gasataya added.*
