OBO revokes building permit of Banago warehouse

• THERESA MAE DULMAN

The City’s Office of the Building Official (OBO) Officer-in-charge Engr. Amy Tentia, said on Tuesday that they issued a Notice of Suspension against the building permit of the Artemis Salt Corporation warehouse in Barangay Banago.

Tentia said that the notice of suspension, addressed to a certain Mr. Lim, was due to their noncompliance with the National Building Code.

According to the City Legal Office (CLO) Head Atty. Karol Joseph Chiu, they scheduled a compliance conference with the Artemis Salt Corporation regarding their obstruction on Monday, but they did not arrive, noting that they even waited for an hour.

“We will proceed with our legal action to remove the obstruction in the drainage. […] The City Engineers already planned on how to proceed, we will be there to assess and ensure the implementation,” Chiu said.

The directive comes after the company was previously given 72 hours, on July 26, by the CLO to remove a structure believed to be worsening the flooding situation in Sta. Clara Subdivision and surrounding areas.

Chiu said that now that the 72 hours have ended, they will proceed with the demolition, adding that the clearing of obstructions in the city is a continuous operation.*
