The Office of Civil Defense-Negros Island Region (OCD-NIR), being the lead agency of the Logistics Cluster under the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council – Negros Island Region (RDRRMC-NIR), facilitated the prepositioning of Ready-to-Eat Food (RTEF) packs from the Department of Social Welfare and Development – NIR.
Troopers of the 79th and 94th Infantry Battalions, as well as CAFGU Active Auxiliary personnel, provided mobility and manpower support during the hauling of the goods.
A total of 4,400 boxes of RTEF were transported from the DSWD Warehouse at BREDCO Port in Bacolod City to the DSWD Warehouse in Dumaguete City.
The activity aimed to ensure the immediate availability of food assistance in anticipation of possible typhoons and other weather-related disturbances, a statement from OCD-NIR said.
Alert Level 2 remains in effect over Kanlaon Volcano, where the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology has recorded seven volcanic quakes, as of midnight of January 22.*
