Overseas Filipino Workers who were quarantined at a function hall at a resort in Bacolod City have been transferred to different facilities in response to complaints addressed to the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).

OWWA regional director Rizza Moldes yesterday said they have already transferred the OFWs to other facilities and some local government units did the same for their constituents who were quarantined at the resort.

Moldes said the OFWs were either transferred to temporary holding facilities or to different hotels.

The OFWs have already undergone COVID-19 swab tests and are just waiting for the result, she said.

Moldes said there are arrivals of OFWs almost everyday. Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia and Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose

Lacson earlier requested for the suspension of their arrival for one week.

A seaman named Alfonso Carlos Puey, in an interview over ABS CBN, said there are no more quarantined OFWs left in the function hall of a resort in Bacolod who shared a common comfort room.

The OWWA has transferred about 50 to 70 OFWs to an inn and about 10 Bacolod residents were left in the resort as of Thursday, he said.

Puey said the OWWA has acted on their complaint by transferring them to an inn where they were assigned individual rooms. They have also been provided with all their needs.*
