The Department of Trade and Industry in Western Visayas will launch its entrepreneurship mentoring online program to continue assisting micro, small, and medium enterprises amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Kapatid Mentor Micro-Enterprises (KMME) online program will kick off today, and will be attended by the first batch of 42 mentees from Antique, Capiz, and Iloilo, with 14 MSMEs each province.

Rachel Nufable, director of DTI Negros Occidental, said yesterday that MSMEs from the province will be part of the third batch, with the online mentoring program to start on July 29.

She said that screening for qualified mentees is still ongoing.

She added that 42 slots are available and will be trained by 14 mentors. Each mentor will handle three MSMEs, she added.

She also said that the program will have 13 modules, with two modules to be tackled every week.

The modules cover entrepreneurial mindset and values formation, marketing, product development and innovation, market growth and expansion, business model canvas, operations management, human resource and organization management, supply and value chain, entrepreneurial accounting and financial management, taxation, business laws, tapping government programs and services to grow one’s business and business improvement plan presentation.

To qualify as an online mentee, the applicant should be at least 18 years old, must be a Filipino citizen, and a resident of Western Visayas.

Qualified mentees must also have a business that is operating for at least one year and has employee/s and/or manages a team. The mentee should also be willing to attend online sessions on specific schedules and willing to enter into a contract of commitment, the DTI said.*MPE
