The Election Registration Board approved yesterday the voter’s registration of 72 applicants, who were earlier opposed on claims that they are not residents of Bacolod City.

Comelec Bacolod officer Kathrina Trinio-Caña said that of the 10,150 applicants, 222 were opposed although the complaints against 145 were withdrawn after they were able to prove that they are residents of Bacolod.

Caña said only five voter’s registrations were disapproved by the ERB on the basis of the non-residence complaint, from barangays Mansilingan, Sum-ag, and Alijis.

She reiterated that voters’ registration for the May 2022 elections will end on September 30 and no more extension will be made, thus, everyone is encouraged to register before then, she added.

Caña added that they are set to hold special registrations in malls and other areas, and will announce the schedules soon.*
