An ordinance establishing the Bacolod City Department of Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion (DLEDIP), was passed by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod on third and final reading Wednesday.
The ordinance authored by Councilor Jude Thaddeus Sayson said the DLEDIP is a department in the local government unit (LGU) in charge of the facilitation, preparation, coordination, and execution of local economic development and investment promotion, policies, programs, projects, and activities.
The Department will take charge of all activities related to LGU investment facilitation and promotion activities, local enterprise development, establishment of support mechanisms for the growth of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), provide mechanisms for business retention and expansion, and other business and economic activities to attract investments and generate employment, it said.
The ordinance provides for the creation of divisions under DLEDIP with corresponding functions such as the Economic Enterprise Division, Business Development Division, and Investment Services Division, as well as the creation of 27 new positions with qualification requirements.
The source of fund for the DLEDIP will be taken from the general fund of the city and will be included in the annual budget, it said.*
