Finalists in the “Massrakrakan Band Competition” at the Bacolod City Government Center will be required to perform an original composition about the MassKara Festival in the final round.
The competition is offering a P50,000 grand prize for the champion band, while the first and second runners up will win P30,000 and P20,000, respectively.
Finalists will perform both a cover song and the mandated original composition on the final night.
Alebert Paypon, the head organizer, stated during a press conference that 18 bands are participating, divided into two batches for the elimination rounds.
The first elimination round, featuring nine bands, took place on October 2, while the second elimination round is scheduled for October 9.
Four bands from each elimination round will qualify for the final round, bringing the total number of finalists to eight.
The championship round is set for October 13.*
