VMA Global College proudly celebrated the 837th NROTCU (VMA-GC) for being awarded NROTC Unit of the Year 2024 and M/CDR Vincent Lopez O-1CL as NROTC Cadet Officer of the Year 2024, a press release from VMA said.
“These achievements reflect the excellence, discipline, and leadership that define VMA. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition!,” said Capt. Nino Elson Salabas, president.
The awards were presented on December 23, 2024, at the Headquarters Naval Reserve Center-Western Visayas, John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University, Iloilo City.
Since its establishment under the National Defense Act of 1935, the NROTC program at VMA has played a vital role in shaping disciplined, service-oriented leaders. Aligned with Republic Act No. 9163 (NSTP Act of 2001), it instills patriotism, leadership, and civic responsibility in students, enhancing their education and preparing them for success in both military and civilian roles.
The program has significantly contributed to student development by fostering teamwork, strategic thinking, and a commitment to community service, exemplified by the recent recognition of its cadets and unit.*
