As part of the 89th founding anniversary of the Office of the Vice President (OVP), the Office of the Vice President-Panay and Negros Islands Satellite Office held a thanksgiving activity in Aklan on November 17, a press release from the OVP said.
Residents of the municipalities of Makato and Boracay Island accepted the gift packs from the OVP.
OVP distributed up to 4,400 gift packs to beneficiaries who came from the driver association, e-trike drivers association, boat driver association, photographer association, vendors, solo parents and from the Boracay Ati Tribal Organization.
Each gift pack contained rice, noodles, canned goods and coffee.
Along with the gift giving, Tamu-an Women’s Organization and Dabong Farmers’ Association also received P150,000 livelihood assistance from OVP’s Mag-negosyo Ta’ Day (MTD) program.
The OVP also distributed 27 wheelchairs for beneficiaries who are stroke patients and cerebral palsy, represented by their families.
The OVP thanked those who helped make the activity a success. These include the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), Philippine National Police (PNP), Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (MDRRMO), barangay officials, Malay LGU and Municipality of Makato LGU.*
