Policemen have seized P1.05 million worth of illegal drugs and a caliber .45 pistol in separate buy bust operations on November 26 and 27 in Negros Occidental, that also led to the arrest of four drug suspects.

The joint operation of the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit, local police and operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group on November 26 in Hacienda Zaragoza, Brgy. Don Jorge Araneta in Bago City, led to the arrest of drug suspect identified as Sofia Marie dela Cruz.

The apprehension of dela Cruz, 30, being considered by the police as a High Value Individual drug personality, at her residence in the barangay, yielded 150 grams of suspected shabu, with a market value of P1,020,000, a Para-Ordnance .45 caliber pistol with a magazine containing seven ammunition and P30,000 in marked money.

Lt. Col. Arnel Solis, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office 6, disclosed that de la Cruz, who has been placed under surveillance for two months, has been tagged as a distributor of shabu in Bacolod City, and in some areas of Negros Occidental.

PBrig. Gen Flynn Dongbo, regional police director of Western Visayas, congratulated the RDEU, CIDG and Bago City police led by Lt Col. Joem Malong for a job well done, as he also encouraged them to continue the momentum on the campaign against illegal drugs.

Three other drug suspects identified by the police as Gellan Aperong, Alvin Albino and Vincent Cabaluna. were also apprehended in separate buy-bust operations in cities of Talisay and La Carlota, and Binalbagan, all in Negros Occidental, that also yielded P35,000 worth of suspected shabu and its paraphernalia.*
