P1.1M shabu seized from jobless woman, ex-convict

• GILBERT P. BAYORAN

Anti-illegal drug operations by the police on Tuesday and Wednesday, led to the seizure of suspected shabu, worth P1,108,900, from a jobless woman and an ex-convict in Barangays Villamonte and Mansilingan, respectively, in Bacolod City.

The apprehension of the High Value Individual drug personality identified by the police as MG, 47, in Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City, on Tuesday, yielded about 118 grams of suspected shabu.

A former inmate was also apprehended yesterday by the police, in another buy bust operation at Purok Bayanihan in Brgy. Villamonte, Bacolod City.

The arrest of the 28-year-old suspect, whose identity was withheld, yielded about P306,000 worth of suspected shabu.

He was detained in 2020 for violation of RA 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug of Act of 2002. But he subsequently entered into a plea bargaining agreement, which reportedly led to his release from jail.

Four other drug suspects were also accounted for by the police, following separate buy bust operations in cities of Silay and Kabankalan, as well as La Castellana, all in Negros Occidental, on October 29.

The police recovered another P88,900 worth of illegal drugs, according to a report of the Police Regional Office 6.*
