More than P1.6 million worth of suspected shabu was seized by the police in a series of buy bust operations on Tuesday and Wednesday in highly urbanized Bacolod City and Negros Occidental, leading to the arrest of eight drug suspects.
The buy bust operation conducted on Wednesday by the police at Purok Mapisanon in Barangay Lantad, Silay City, led to the confiscation of about 120 grams of suspected shabu, valued at P816,000, from the arrested drug suspect identified by the police as alias Philip.
Police Station 2 operatives also confiscated about 80 grams of suspected shabu worth P544,000 during a buy bust operation on Wednesday night at Purok Everlasting in Brgy. 18, Bacolod City. The two arrested drug suspects with the aliases of Romeo and Segundo, are now locked up in jail.
Suspected shabu, estimated at 35 grams valued at P238,000, was also confiscated by the police from an arrested drug suspect known only as alias Zeddie, in another buy bust operation on Tuesday at Purok Eucalyptos in Barangay Tabugon, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.
Policemen also arrested alias Negro on May 28 during a raid at his residence at Purok 2 in Barangay Nagasi, La Carlota City, Negros Occidental.
The implementation of a search warrant issued by the La Carlota Regional Trial Court led to the recovery of a caliber .38 revolver with two ammunition, two ammunition, and two empty shells of a 9mm pistol.
Four other drug suspects were nabbed by the police on Wednesday, in separate buy bust operations in Murcia, and the cities of Talisay, Escalante and Bago, yielding about 6.2 grams of suspected shabu with a total market value of P42,296, according to reports of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office.
A total of P1,1656,296 worth of suspected shabu was confiscated from the eight arrested drugs suspects, who are now facing charges for violation of RA 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002.*
