The week-long campaign of the Bacolod City Police Office resulted in the confiscation of P1.7 million worth of illegal drugs, its spokesperson, P/Lt Liberty Indiape, said yesterday.

Indiape said that around 258.977 grams of suspected shabu were seized and 19 suspects arrested, including two high value individuals, during these operations.

She said the arrested suspects are now detained in various lockup cells and will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The BCPO conducted 13 operations last week in the campaign against wanted persons.

Nine persons were also arrested for illegal gambling and P571 in bet money seized.

A .38 caliber revolver with three live ammunitions and one fired cartridge were also recovered in the campaign on loose firearms.

Acting city police director, Col. Manuel Placio, commended the BCPO Drug Enforcement Unit and the chiefs of police stations and operating units for a job well done in the heightened operations. He reminded all unit commanders to exert more efforts to effectively maintain peace and order in their areas of responsibility.*
