A modern police station, worth P10 million, will rise soon in Brgy. Pook, Hinobaan, Negros Occidental.

Mayor Ernesto Estrao said yesterday that the budget for the two-storey police station comes from the Philippine National Police, and the local government provided the 600 square-meter property where the building will be constructed.

The groundbreaking was held yesterday, led by Brig. Gen. Patrick Villacorte, deputy regional director for Administration of the Police Regional Office 6, Col. Romy Palgue, provincial police director of Negros Occidental, Estrao and other town officials, including town police chief, Maj. Clifford Batadhay, among others.

Estrao said that Hinobaan is the only local government unit in Western Visayas that availed of funding from the PNP for the construction of a new police station this year.

He said they are investing in the maintenance of peace and order in Hinobaan that will pave the way for development of the town. The Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine Army, and Maritime Command of the PNP are also augmenting the local police in ensuring peace and order, and responding to natural calamities.*
