A week-long anti-drug campaign of the Western Visayas police has led to the arrest of 62 drug suspects and the recovery of P13.3 million worth of illegal drugs.

From September 1 to 7, about 1.9 kilos of suspected shabu were confiscated by the police in Region 6 from 62 drug suspects, of which 22 were accounted for by the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office in 45 police operations.

The Iloilo City Police Office trailed NOCPPO in terms of arrested drug suspects at 15, while Bacolod City Police Office collared 12, Regional Drug Enforcement Unit 6 nabbed five, Iloilo and Aklan Police Provincial Offices had three each, while one each were arrested by the Capiz and Antique Police Provincial Offices, according to reports of the Police Regional Office 6.

The NOCPPO logged the biggest volume of confiscation, amounting to P7.3 million worth of illegal drugs, followed by RPDEU6 with the seizure of about P2.8 million, and Iloilo City Police Office with the recovery of P1 million worth of illegal drugs.

On Sept. 9 to 10, the PRO 6 accounted for 23 more drug suspects, which yielded 299 grams of suspected shabu with a market value of P2 million.

Of the 23 arrested drug suspects, four were tagged as high value individuals, while 19 others are street level individuals.

NOCPPO and BCPO accounted for 10 drug suspects, while 13 were nabbed by the IPPO, ICPO, CPPO and GPPO.

In a statement, PBrig. Gen. Jack Wanky, regional police director of Western Visayas, ordered police commanders to keep pushing forward in identifying the accomplices of the arrested drug suspects.

“If evidence warrants, conduct law enforcement operations against those who are identified as involved,” Wanky said.*
