An estimated P14 million worth of property went up in flames, after a fire hit a warehouse of the Multitrade Corporation at the Megaworld Upper East in Brgy. Villamonte, Bacolod City, according to the Bureau of Fire and Protection.

Harold Geronimo, Megaworld Vice President of Public Relations and Media Affairs, yesterday said “the fire incident that has been declared ‘fire out’ by Fire Marshall Chief Insp. Stephen Jardeleza around 2:25 pm only affected the ‘temporary warehouse and office facility’ of our contractors.”

This is neither a staff house nor a construction site, he clarified, adding that the nearby construction sites as well as residential towers are safe.

“We thank the Bacolod City Fire Station, the Bureau of Fire Protection, and all the local fire chambers for their fast response to the fire call. The incident only lasted for about 30 minutes because of the efficient fire response of the city,” he added.

As of this time, the origin of fire has yet to be established by the Bureau of Fire and Protection, which also reported that no one was injured in the fire.*
