The Police Regional Office – Negros Island Region reported the confiscation P17,595,680 worth of suspected shabu in a week-long anti-drug operation, from Aug. 11 to 17, in Negros Island.
It also resulted in the arrest of 39 suspected drug personalities and the seizure of 2.5 kilos of suspected shabu valued at P17,595,680.
About P10.2 million worth of illegal drugs were seized in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, on August 14, which led to the arrest of Franklin Miral, as the police seized 1.5 kilograms of suspected shabu.
On August 19, three drug suspects, including a woman, were nabbed by the police during a buy bust operation at Sitio Lanete in Barangay Mambagaton, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental.
The apprehension of three suspects, identified through their aliases as Bry-Bry, Deena, and Roming yielded about two grams of suspected shabu valued at P13,600, and a firearm, according to the Himamaylan police.
Meanwhile, campaign against loose firearms by the PRO-NIR also led to the arrest of nine persons and recovery of eight guns, while 24 firearms have been surrendered.
In the campaign against illegal gambling, 52 violators were nabbed, while P8,902 cash bets were recovered.
In the same period, PRO-NIR also reported the arrest of 91 fugitives, of which 14 have been included in the list of Most Wanted Persons in the region. The number 3 most wanted person in NIR, accused of eight counts of qualified rape, was nabbed in the town of Ilog on August 13, and the number 7 most wanted person was apprehended in Pontevedra, Negros Occidental.*
