After reporting a dismal drug haul last month, the Bacolod police seized more than P1 million in suspected shabu yesterday and Thursday in Barangay 6.
These operations led to the arrest of Jaime Garde, 39, of Purok Gonzaga in Brgy. Taculing, and Garry Cartalaba, 34, of Purok Malipayon in Brgy 12, Bacolod.
Garde was arrested near his place at about 11 p.m. Thursday while his neighbor, Jobel Blam, managed to escape after they tried to sell suspected shabu to a police poseur buyer, the police said.
The police added that five sachets of suspected shabu, valued at P770,000 and weighing about 110 grams, were recovered from Garde following his arrest.
Cartalaba, meanwhile, was arrested past 1 p.m. yesterday in a buy-bust operation in Purok Magsanaya, Brgy. 6, Bacolod, by Station 2 operatives after he sold a sachet of shabu, also to a police poseur buyer.
Six sachets of suspected shabu, weighing 35 grams and valued at P238,000, were confiscated from him.
BODY FOUND
Station 2 policemen are still facing a blank wall on the identity of a body found at the Bacolod Reclamation area at about 5:30 a.m. yesterday, and the motive for the killing.
E-bike driver Joseph Mendoza, 57, Purok Kabuhi in Brgy. 10, Bacolod, reported the discovery of the body, P/Capt. Paul Vincent Pendon, Station 2 chief, said.
Investigation showed that the victim sustained gunshot wounds in the abdomen and other parts of the body. The victim was shirtless, about 30 years old, and around 5 feet and 4 inches to 5 feet and 5 inches tall.
Two empty cartridges of a .45 caliber pistol and a live bullet of the same pistol were recovered at the crime scene, Pendon said.
