P2.3M in drugs, guns seized in NegOcc

Nine suspects are now locked up in jail, following their arrests on January 5 and 6, and 8 in Negros Occidental, resulting in the recovery of more than P2.3 million worth of suspected shabu, two firearms, and an explosive.

Two drug suspects, whose identities were withheld by the police, were arrested on Jan. 8, during a buy-bust operation at the old Bacolod Airport runway in Brgy. Singcang Airport, Bacolod City.

The arrests by operatives of the Bacolod City Police Office Station 8 yielded about P1.2 million worth of suspected shabu.

The apprehension of more two drug suspects, with aliases of Kid and Liezl, in separate anti-drug operations in Brgys. Granada and Singcang Airport, Bacolod City, respectively, also yielded 122 grams of suspected shabu with a market value of P1,100,000.

The live-in partner of alias Liezl, identified only through his alias Escobar, however managed to escape.

The arrest of a 52-year-old driver in Brgy. 21, Victorias City, and a 24-year-old suspect in Brgy. Magticol, Toboso, whose identities were withheld by the police, also yielded a .45 caliber pistol with six ammunition, a .38 caliber revolver with three live ammunition, as well as a hand grenade, according to reports of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office.

Three other drug suspects were also arrested by the police in Manapla, and the cities of Victorias and Talisay City in Negros Occidental, which yielded 36 sachets of suspected shabu, P1,000 in marked money, and a .38 caliber revolver with two live ammunition.

In a statement, the Police Regional Office 6 lauded the accomplishments of both Bacolod City Police Office and Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office in their campaign to stop the proliferation of illegal drugs and unlicensed firearms.*
