The Police Regional Office 6 reported the confiscation of P25.5 million worth of illegal drugs, including shabu and dried marijuana leaves, from 182 arrested drug peddlers over a span of two weeks of operations in Western Visayas.
In a statement, the PRO 6 said that the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office had the largest volume of confiscated illegal drugs, with the value pegged at P8.18 million, equivalent to 32.03 percent of the total confiscations in Region 6, from September 1 to 15.
In the same period, NOCPPO also accounted for 67 drug suspects, while the Bacolod City Police Office nabbed 29.
The Iloilo City Police Office accounted for 38 drug suspects, Regional Drug Enforcement Unit 6 arrested 11, Capiz PPO – 7, Aklan PPO – 4, Antique PPO – 3,and two by the Guimaras PPO.
Despite the laudable accomplishments, PBrig. Gen. Jack Wanky, regional police director of Western Visayas, urged all police units to keep pushing their campaigns against illegal drugs.
Wanky also recognized the untiring support of the community by providing information that led to the arrests of the drug peddlers.
Meanwhile, another 285 fugitives were arrested by the police in Western Visayas, of which 111 were nabbed in Negros Occidental, while 12 were arrested in Bacolod City.*
