More firecrackers and ‘boga’ seized in Negros Occidental, were destroyed by the authorities on Tuesday at the Bacolod City Police Office parade grounds.
The ceremonial disposal of 3,972 assorted firecrackers and pyrotechnics devices, with a market value of P30,750, as well as 135 boga was conducted by the Bacolod City Police Office, under the leadership of P/Col. Joeresty Coronica, and Bureau of Fire Protection led by F/Supt. Jenny Mae Masip, also witnessed by representatives of other government agencies.
The confiscated boga were flattened using a BFP fire truck in an attempt to safely dispose of the hazardous devices.
The Bacolod City Health Office reported 23 persons, including 15 minors, suffered injuries due to firecracker blasts.
On January 3, a total of 10,595 firecrackers, with an estimated market value P88,895, and boga seized by different Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office units were disposed of at Camp Alfredo Montelibano Sr. in Bacolod City.*
