The proposed P30 million allocation for disaster recovery and development programs of Moises Padilla in Negros Occidental, was approved by the Municipal Development Council (MDC) and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) during its regular session on January 22.

Presided by Mayor Ella Celestina Garcia-Yulo, the MDC earmarked P20 million as financial assistance for victims whose residences were destroyed by Typhoon Tino.

The P10 million was coursed through the Negros Occidental provincial government, while another P10 million was directly released by the Moises Padilla municipal government.

The MDC also greenlighted additional priority projects, including P400,000 for the development of a relocation site for families displaced by the typhoon, an amount donated by Kabankalan City.

Another P9.6 million from local funds was allocated for agricultural support, covering swine upgrading programs and an irrigation project in Barangay Montilla.

Mayor Garcia-Yulo and her husband, Vice Mayor Felix Mathias Segundo “Pimpoy” Yulo III, reiterated the commitment of the local government unit to the efficient delivery of provincial and national assistance programs to support recovery efforts and promote sustainable development in Moises Padilla.

According to a press statement from the municipal government, Local officials said the approved funding package underscores the municipality’s focus on helping affected residents recover while strengthening long-term infrastructure and agricultural productivity.*
