Two weeks of relentless anti-drug operations by the police in Western Visayas has led to the confiscation of P31 million worth of suspected shabu and marijuana, along with the arrest of 160 drug suspects, from May 1 to 15.
According to a statement issued by the Police Regional Office 6, the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office logged the highest number of arrested drug suspects with 57, followed by Iloilo PPO with 29, Iloilo City Police Office – 28, Bacolod City Police Office – 20, Regional Drug Enforcement Unit 6 – 11, Capiz PPO – 6, Aklan PPO – 5, Guimaras PPO – 3, and Aklan PPO – 1.
The RPDEU6, on the other hand, logged the biggest haul of illegal drugs with about 1.8 kilos of suspected shabu confiscated, with an estimated market value of P12.5 million.
The PRO 6 also lauded the San Carlos City Police Station in Negros Occidental for the discovery and seizure of a marijuana plantation on May 14.
The confiscated fully grown marijuana plants have a market value of P2.4 million.
PBrig. Gen. Jack Wanky, regional police director of Western Visayas, said the successful apprehensions of drug suspects should serve as a stern warning to those who still engage in the illegal drug trade.
“If you opt to continue your unlawful acts, soonest you will be behind bars,” Wanky added.*
