Authorities seized on Tuesday an estimated P40.8 million worth of suspected shabu from an arrested drug suspect at Purok 5, Barangay Sto. Nino in San Jose, Negros Oriental.
The illegal drugs weighing about six kilos, were recovered in a joint operation conducted by the Drug Enforcement and Intelligence Units of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office, Regional Intelligence Division of the Negros Island Region Police Office, San Jose Municipal Police Station, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
The arrested drug suspect, alias Pao, was considered by the police as a High Value Individual (HVI) drug personality, reported to be operating in the Negros Oriental 2nd district.
The source of confiscated illegal drugs is yet to be determined by the Philippine National Police and PDEA.
Lt. Stephen Polinar, spokesperson of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOrPPO), described the confiscation of six kilos of suspected shabu as the biggest drug haul in Negros Oriental this year.
“The suspect was under close surveillance and intelligence monitoring for a long time and is believed to be a drop-off point (bagsakan) for illegal drugs coming to the province,” Polinar said.
Another HVI, alias Yam Yam, was also arrested by the police in Sibulan, Negros Oriental, for having 74.3 grams of suspected shabu valued at P505,240, in his possession.
Meanwhile, four other drug suspects were arrested by the police on July 14 in separate buy bust operations in Silay City, Pontevedra, and Hinigaran, all in Negros Occidental, which yielded 12 grams of suspected shabu with a market value of P81,600.* with PNA reports
