P448k in shabu seized, wanted rapist arrested

The Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office (NORPPO) successfully arrested a high-value individual during a buy-bust operation on Tuesday at Sitio Pantao 1, Barangay Pantao, Mabinay town, while the region’s 3rd most wanted person was arrested the following day at Sitio Cabcabon, Barangay Banga, Bayawan City.

Police recovered from the buy-bust operation more or less 66 grams of suspected shabu with a standard drug price of P448,800, along with drug paraphernalia, buy-bust money, and other non-drug evidence.

The identity of the HVI arrested was withheld by the police.

“This successful law enforcement effort underscores NORPPO’s firm resolve to combat illegal drugs and safeguard the people of Mabinay and the entire province,” NORPPO said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the following day, Negros Island Region’s 3rd most wanted person was apprehended at Sitio Cabcabon, Barangay Banga, Bayawan City. 

Arrested was alias ‘Jun,’ male, 38-years-old, single, and a resident of Barangay Tayawan of the city.

The arrest was made by virtue of a warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court, Branch 63, Bayawan City, after he was accused of qualified rape of the minor victim. Police said that his case was unbailable.

The accused allegedly raped his stepdaughter, who was a minor, in their house. Upon the warrant being served, the accused had been previously detained for the crime of rape through sexual assault.

“This successful law enforcement operation demonstrates NOrPPO’s unwavering commitment to uphold the law, protect the vulnerable, and ensure the security of Bayawan City and the entire province,” police added in their statement.
