A house in Phase 1 of Charito Heights Subdivision, Bacolod City was razed by fire yesterday morning with damage to property estimated at about P450,000.

Reports from the Bureau of Fire Protection showed that the fire started from a bedroom in the house of Alerton and May Dayot at about 8:08 a.m. yesterday. This was put out by responding firemen at about 8:29 a.m.

No one was reported injured in the incident while the cause of fire is still being investigated by the BFP.

Bacolod Fire Marshall Chief Insp. Rodel Legaspi said that they have recorded 10 fire incidents in January which include a large industrial fire in Brgy. Mandalagan and nine fire incidents between February 1 to 19.

Legaspi said they have never stopped reminding or informing the public to be vigilant and cautious in order to prevent incidents of fire.

Based on their experience, most fire incidents are caused by human factor like carelessness or lack of knowledge on what to do in the event of a fire, he said.

They also conduct fire safety awareness campaign in the barangays and inspect fire prone areas, Legaspi said.

In case of fire, their hotline numbers are 434-5022, 434-5003 and 0921-341-7002, he added.*
