The municipality of Cauayan in Negros Occidental, is receiving a grant of P467 million worth of infrastructure projects from the Philippine Rural Development Project, under the Department of Agriculture, Mayor John Rey Tabujara disclosed yesterday.
Tabujara said the funds will be used in the road concreting project, which will connect the town proper to Barangay Camindangan, via barangays of Tomina and Lumbia, which used to be insurgency-affected villages in Cauayan.
Brgy. Camindangan is located at the tri-boundary of Candoni, Cauayan, and Sipalay City.
If completed, the proposed 16.8 kilometer road concreting project, according to Tabujara, will further boost the economy and tourism industry of Cauayan.
Farmers may also directly sell their products in Cauayan, and not Candoni, Tabujara said
At present, farmers in the upland barangays of Cauayan have to travel 30 kilometers, via Candoni, in order to sell their products in the town, he noted.
Tabujara said the Solo-on Cave in Brgy. Camindangan is among the many potential tourist destinations that can be developed, as soon as the road network is completed.*
