Police seized nearly P476,000 worth of suspected shabu and arrested a high-value drug suspect during a midnight buy-bust operation in Barangay Tangub, Bacolod City, yesterday, May 27.
The Police Regional Office Negros Island Region, alongside operatives from Bacolod City Police Office Police Station 8, led the sting operation and identified the arrested suspect as alias, ‘Josh,’ a 28-year-old unemployed resident of Purok Tahong, Barangay 2.
Police said the operation was conducted after a confidential informant flagged the suspect’s active involvement in distributing illegal drugs across Barangay Tangub and its neighboring communities.
Authorities launched a series of casing and surveillance operations to validate the intelligence report before executing the buy-bust.
Operatives recovered approximately 70 grams of suspected shabu.
The confiscated evidence included one big heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet used as the buy-bust item, one knot-tied transparent plastic bag, and three additional big heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets, all containing suspected shabu.
Also recovered were a black pouch used to store the contraband, along with one genuine one-thousand-peso bill mixed with six pieces of one-thousand-peso boodle money used by undercover operatives.
The suspect is currently held at Police Station 8 and faces criminal charges for violating Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.*
