Over P6.9 million worth of shabu was confiscated from a high-value individual during the joint buy-bust operation conducted by Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) Station 8 and City Drug Enforcement Unit on Saturday in Barangay Tangub, Bacolod City.
The suspect, identified only by the alias ‘John Paul,’ 37, is a resident of Cordova Street, Barangay 18, and was apprehended at around 5:55 p.m. in Purok Villa Esperanza, Barangay Tangub, where he temporarily resides.
The operation yielded approximately 1,025 grams of shabu valued at P6,970,000 in 5 heat sealed plastic and 10 knot-tied transparent plastic bags, and the buy bust item.
The arrest was made for violation of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
In a press briefing, BCPO Director PCol. Joeresty Coronica said that the surge of illegal drugs during the holiday season is expected as people have lots of money during this time.
The arrested suspect and the seized evidence were brought to the concerned police station for proper documentation and disposition, while the confiscated illegal drugs were turned over for laboratory examination.
The BCPO stated that it remains committed to intensifying its anti-illegal drug operations and solicited the continued support of the public in maintaining peace and order in the city.*
