Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson led the inauguration of the Guintubdan Bridge along the Isabela–Camangcamang provincial road in Isabela town, yesterday.

Isabela Mayor Irene Montilla, Negros Occ. Provincial Engineer Ernie Mapa and other local officials joined the governor in the activity, a press release from the Capitol said.

The P60-million bridge has a length of 100 meters with 5.60 meters carriageway.

Montilla said the people of Isabela are happy and thankful to the provincial government for the worthwhile project that she said will make a difference in surrounding communities, the press release said.

She said the bridge that used to be made of wood was destroyed by typhoons and so she is thankful to the provincial government for the concrete bridge, that started construction in 2018.

Lacson said that he hopes the bridge will help facilitate more economic activities and development in all neighboring barangays.

Local residents, especially tricycle drivers said they are thankful for the bridge that means a lot for their safety and for all people in the community, considering that they have a large population, the press release added.*
