A fire swept through a residential area in Purok Magti-ayon, Barangay 10, Bacolod City, late Wednesday night, leaving dozens of residents displaced and causing an estimated P75,000 in property damage.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Bacolod said the fire affected a total of 11 residential structures, covering an area of approximately 300 square meters.
Six of the homes were totally destroyed, while five were partially damaged.
The incident resulted in one minor injury involving a 21-year-old female, who sustained a laceration on her right middle finger while attempting to respond to the blaze.
According to the BFP, they received the alarm at 9:43 p.m., with the first units arriving on the scene and the fire was officially declared out at 10:05 p.m.
Data released by the Bacolod Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD) confirmed that the fire has displaced a total of 24 families, comprising 43 individuals, including 3 seniors, 22 adults, and 18 children ranging from infants to teenagers.
The displaced families are currently using the Barangay 10 multipurpose hall as a temporary shelter.*
