The relentless anti-drug operations of the police in Bacolod City last month, led to the arrest of 72 suspected drug personalities, and confiscation of about P8.9 million worth of suspected shabu, police spokesperson Lt. Col. Sherlock Gabana disclosed yesterday.
Of the 72 neutralized drug personalities following their arrests, seven were classified as High Value Individuals, and 65 others belong to the Street Level Individual category, Gabana said.
The 64 anti-drug operations of the Bacolod City Police Office also yielded 1,316.388 grams of suspected shabu with a market value of P8,951, 438.
The 72 arrested drugs suspects are now locked up in jail, after being charged in court for violation of RA 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002.
In the campaign against wanted persons, Gabana also reported the apprehension of 92 fugitives, who have pending arrest warrants, for various criminal offenses.
In the same period, five persons were also apprehended for illegal possession of firearms that resulted in confiscation of nine assorted guns, while six other firearms and an explosive were surrendered, while two more unlicensed guns were deposited at BCPO, pending processing of documents.
Gabana also reported that 60 violators for illegal gambling, were also arrested, yielding P4,717 in cash bets.
PCol. Thomas Joseph Martir, BCPO director, lauded the operating units and its personnel for a job well done and in their continuous effort through police-initiated operations, in order to reduce criminality.
As the BCPO prepares for its different activities for this month, Martir ordered all police personnel to continue their relentless operations against all forms of illegal activities , as he encouraged the public to do their share in the peacekeeping campaign of the PNP.*
