P880K shabu seized in Bacolod

• RICHARD T. CABALLERO JR.

In an intensified campaign against illegal drugs, the Police Regional Office Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) successfully executed a buy-bust operation on Sunday in Bacolod City, which led to the seizure of nearly P900,000 worth of illegal drugs.

Arrested was alias ‘Tata,’ a 24-year-old unemployed female that the police tagged as a high-value individual due to her continuous involvement in selling and using illegal drugs. Her companion, identified as the 22-year-old female named “Wilma,” was also arrested at the scene. Both were residents of Purok Magtiayon, Barangay 10, Bacolod City.

The operation was initiated based on information from a confidential informant that the high-value subject was actively engaged in the sale of illegal drugs at her residence.

During the operation, police recovered from the suspects’ possession 8 sachets of suspected shabu weighing approximately 130 grams with a standard drug price of P884,000.

As a result, the suspects were brought to Bacolod City Police Office Station 2 for proper disposition and will face criminal charges in violation of RA9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The confiscated drug evidence was submitted to the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Forensic Unit for laboratory examination.

“The arrest of the drug personalities and the seizure of substantial quantities of illegal drugs reflect the effectiveness of coordinated efforts between law enforcement and the community in safeguarding public safety and upholding the rule of law,” PRO-NIR said in a statement.*
