A farm laborer reportedly killed himself, after hacking his own live-in partner and four children on Wednesday night at Purok Ibos in Brgy. Tapi, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.
The 36-year-old suspect, whose identity was withheld by the police, had already succumbed to stab injuries in the chest, when he was found by barangay tanods who were responding to the hacking incident.
Initial police investigations indicated that the suspect, who was reportedly suffering from a nervous breakdown, took his bolo, while his live-in partner and their children, who are all minors, were preparing for dinner.
Without any provocation, the suspect hacked his partner and four children, who suffered injuries on the back, neck and head, according to the Kabankalan City police.
His 36-year-old partner and her two-year-old child are now being treated for their injuries at a hospital in Kabankalan City, while the two other siblings, aged 6 and 11 years old, are confined at a government hospital in Bacolod City.
The one-year-old child of the couple, who also suffered a minor injury, has already been released from the hospital.
On the other hand, the suspect was reported by the police to have been declared dead on arrival at a hospital in Kabankalan City.
According to the police, the suspect had been suffering from nervous breakdowns for the past two years.*
