The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) turned over 500 brand new tablet computers to the Bacolod City government.
The donation is part of PAGCOR’s regional corporate social responsibility initiative aimed at equipping cities in the Visayas with modern learning tools and disaster resilience resources.
In a media interview, Mayor Greg Gasataya said that instead of direct distribution to individuals, the city plans to integrate these devices into a specialized educational framework to maximize their impact.
The tablets will power the city’s proposed ‘Mobile Learning Center’ project in collaboration with the Department of Education.
“By integrating these tablets into the mobile learning project, we ensure that a greater number of people can benefit from them, rather than just a single individual having exclusive use,” Gasataya said.
The mayor said that through the partnership between DepEd, more students from various schools will be able to avail themselves of these resources.*
