‘Pagpalangga’ ongoing in city

“Pagpalangga”, an exhibit of the artworks of renowned Negrense artist and filmmaker, Peque Gallaga, opened Saturday as part of the celebration of his birthday on August 25.

The exhibit will run until September 21 at The Negros Museum in Bacolod City, a press release from organizers said.

“Happy Birthday, El Pogi”, 5-minute video tribute to Gallaga by director Lore Reyes has also started airing on social media.

On August 24, Gallaga will be honored as one of the awardees of the 2021 Kaisa ini sa Sining Lunsay nga Artistang Pilipino awards, to be given by the Cultural Center of the Philippines. This is in recognition of the outstanding artists, cultural workers, and organizations in the Visayas.

“Pagpalangga” showcases around 80 of Gallaga’s artworks. Most of the pieces were given by Gallaga to family members, colleagues, students, and friends.

“Pagpalanggâ (for love)” gathers all the love between Peque and the people in his life to confirm that he was a consummate artist, an inspiring mentor, and a father to all,” Rene Hinojales, director of the show, said.

“Happy Birthday, El Pogi” can be viewed on the Peque Gallaga Youtube channel, Peque Gallaga: Bugal sang Banwa FB page, and on Instagram @busalian.

“Pagpalangga” is produced by The Negros Museum and Real Entertainment. It was directed by Hinojales, with Cindy Ballesteros as production manager.

The production team included Bing and Chart Motus, Jo Macasa, John Gilbert Arceo, EJ Ballesteros, Junjun Montelibano, Easter Anne Doza, Zadhea Solinap, and Ronnie Lesaguis, with the assistance of Eli Tajanlangit and Charlie Co.*
