Victorias City vice mayoral aspirant Derek Palanca yesterday slammed the people surrounding his father, former Mayor Francis Frederick Palanca, whom he said are “misguiding and merely using him, perhaps ego feeding him, for clout to advance their own political agenda.”
“Let me be clear that I love my father, and we are on good terms, as far as the father and son relationship goes,” the younger Palanca said.
Partido Demokratikong Pilipino (PDP) deputy secretary general for Visayas, Atty. Jesus ‘Jayvee’ Hinlo had earlier disclosed that he is 99 percent sure that former Mayor Francis Frederick ‘Wantan’ Palanca will run for governor of Negros Occidental. Derek is the son of Wantan.
Councilor Palanca said he has not heard any announcement from his father.
“Who is this Jayvee Hinlo, who speaks in behalf of him?” Councilor Palanca, asked in his social media account.
During a press briefing on Monday in Victorias City, Councilor Palanca joined his colleagues in supporting the tandem of Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and his running mate, Board Member Jose Benito Alonso.
But Councilor Palanca said he is standing firm in his principles to uphold the solidarity of his party, and “I am also a man of my word.”
Former Mayor Palanca joined the Partido Demokratikong Pilipino early this year.*
