Six participants of the Panaad sa Negros ‘Best of Festival Dances Competition’ from Hinobaan and two others, including a driver and a minor, were slightly injured as a result of a road crash on April 15 along the highway of Barangay Talaban in Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental.
Six of the victims are students, along with two others, who were already discharged from the Valeriano Gatuslao Memorial District Hospital in Himamaylan City, after undergoing treatment, according to Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz II.
Mayor Daph Reliquias disclosed that the multi-purpose service vehicle of Brgy. Pook, Hinobaan, with 10 passengers, including the driver, figured in a road crash at about 5 a.m. on Wednesday.
Reliquias said the multi-purpose Canter vehicle fell on its side after hitting a road sign.
Meanwhile, Diaz reported that another Hinobaan festival dancer who fell from the stage at the Panaad Park and Stadium, has been referred to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City, for an MRI examination because of a back injury.
He hopes that the physical health condition of the female 15-year-old dancer is not serious.
On the other hand, Diaz said the evacuation center at the Panaad Park and Stadium, which is being targeted for completion next year, can used by Panaad sa Negros festival participants as sleeping quarters, aside from the multi-purpose dormitories, to lower the expenses of their respective local government units.*
