The provincial government of Negros Occidental is joining the MassKara Festival 2022 of Bacolod City, as it will open the booths of 31 local government units at Panaad Park and Stadium in Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City, as the venue of an expo which will be an added attraction to the annual festival.

Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz yesterday said that he met with Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez on Thursday and discussed programs that the province and city government “can jointly work out together.”

There will be more synergy between the two local government units, Diaz said.

He confirmed that Mayor Benitez requested the use of Panaad Park and Stadium for use during the MassKara festival.

If it brings people to the province like the MassKara Festival in Bacolod City, the provincial government is going to support it, Diaz said.

After the celebration of MassKara Festival was suspended for two years because of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is returning this year, starting from October 1 until the 22nd.

Upon instruction of Gov. Lacson, Diaz said the renovation of the Panaad Park and Stadium has been fast tracked to meet the deadline requested by the city government of Bacolod.

He also said that Negros Association of Chief Executives led by Victorias City Mayor Javier Miguel “Javi” Benitez also expressed their commitment to join the festivities, which tourism officers of various LGUs are looking forward as a venue to promote their respective tourist destinations.

The meeting between Diaz and Benitez was also attended by tourism officers of the province led by Provincial Tourism Officer Cheryl Decena.*
