Robinson’s Place Bacolod, in partnership with the Bureau of Jail Mangement and Penology (BJMP), launched the 15th Suga sg Paskua, a parol-making contest involving all 21 BJMP facilities in Negros Occidental, at the second floor of the mall yesterday.
Provincial Jail Administrator S/Supt. Marie Rose Laguyo, said the Suga sg Paskua, not only showcases the incredible talent and creativity of Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs), but has also become “a tradition in the Spirit of the Holiday Season.”
Bacolod Councilor Jason Villarosa, who was guest of honor, said parols have become symbols of Pinoy Christmas, and the experience is not at all complete without seeing its bright and colorful lights. The colors in it bring life to the eyes of the children, the heart of the Christmas season.

Robinsons Bacolod mall operations manager Mary Jo San Marte said “the Suga sg Paskua is really a cherished tradition for us. It has been a long-standing partnership between Robinsons Place Bacolod and BJMP for the last 15 years, for which we are grateful.”
It has not only brought joy and meaningful moments to us, but as well as the PDLs. It has also fostered a spirit of inclusion and compassion across our community, she said, adding that
“together we have proven that the true meaning of Christmas is not just in what we give, but in the love and unity that we share.”
Krista Lapore, Robinsons mall marketing head said the judging of the parols will be on December 28.
The judges present yesterday were June Marie Castro, executive assistant IV of the Office of the Governor; artist Jenevieve Abeto, art workshop facilitator of Art Studio 49; and Sybel Dobleza of the Association of Negros Producers.
Meanwhile, Robinson’s Place Bacolod held its Christmas tree lighting ceremony Monday with Robinsons regional operations manager Ma. Vanessa Angodung, Councilors Renecito Novero, Em Ang, Al Espino, Jude Thaddeus Sayson, Simplicia Distrito, and Jason Villarosa, as well as Bacolod Tourism Operations Officer Ma. Teresa Manalili and Lin-ay sg Negros first runner-up Zoe Clarisse Limson (Robinsons Choice Award) as guests of honor.
