Pascual Greek Style wins Fil-Sino Michael Miranda Cup

Pascual Greek Style completed an astounding campaign in the recently concluded Fil-Sino 3rd Michael Miranda Memorial Basketball Tournament. 

Pascual Greek Style, ranked third after the elimination and they faced hard battles against Heineken and Beer na Beer in the quarterfinals and semis. Awaiting them in the finals was powerhouse Absolute, who came in with an impressive 8-1 record.

Aware of the war they were facing, the Greeks came in prepared and took a double digit lead, 33-19, after one quarter, as Harvey Eslawa dropped 5 bombs from behind the arc. Absolute gamely responded in the second quarter as Randy Colonia took over, scoring 14 in the quarter to cut the lead to just 7 as the game went into halftime.

Absolute continued their onslaught in the third, outscoring the Greeks and trailing by only 4, going into the final frame, 80-76. However, the Greeks displayed a different attitude in the fourth, tightening their defenses and converting their positions well on offense. Absolute couldn’t do enough to gain meaningful ground, as the Greeks seized their championship victory.

Harvey Eslawa led the way for the Pascual Greek Style with a game high 44 points, along with the finals MVP award. Ojay Gumbao contributed 12 and Miguel Mosquera tallied 10. On the distaff side, Jessie Moreno led Absolute with 22 points, Randy Colonia added 19, while Matt Deles and Tony Abad tallied 14 and 13 points, respectively.*
