Latest numbers provided by the league showed an average of 1.5 million livestream viewers per game were tuned in during the best-of-seven title series which the Kings won in five games.

PBA Board of Governor Al Panlilio made the disclosure after confirming the livestream figures from Sienna Olaso, VP for Channels and Content of Cignal TV Inc.

“The Finals alone on PBA Rush and livestreaming, we had an average of 1.5 million viewers per game,” Panlilio, president of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas, shared during the press briefing on the Clark sports bubble during the weekend.

“And that was only five games. Com. Willie (Marcial), kung naging Game 7 yan, baka naging 3 million yun,” the Meralco board of governor added in jest. (But) it was an average of 1.5 million livestream viewers.”

The title-clinching win alone registered 331.8 K viewers at its peak that saw Ginebra finished off an injury-plagued TnT Tropang Giga side, 82-78.

During Game 2 when the Kings made it a 2-0 series following a 92-90 comeback win, livestream viewers reached its peak at 293K.

The league also garnered huge livestream viewerships during the eliminations and playoffs, among them include Calvin Abueva’s first game back after a 16-month suspension, Rain or Shine scoring a hard-earned overtime win over Barangay Ginebra, and the do-or-die Game 5 between the Kings and the Meralco Bolts for the last Finals berth.

As part of the strict health protocols the league adopted together with the Clark Development Corporation, viewing public were not allowed inside the Angeles University Foundation gym due to the current Covid-19 pandemic.*PBA.PH
