President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is scheduled to arrive in Bacolod City this Friday to personally inspect the ongoing Oplan Kontra Baha clearing and cleaning operations.
Bacolod Lone District Representative Alfredo Abelardo Benitez announced the president’s arrival during the 2nd Flood Mitigation Summit yesterday.
The solon said that the result of the summit will be presented to Marcos Jr. and Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon on Friday.
Benitez stated that Marcos will review the progress of the short term solution, which involves the clearing and dredging of the city’s nine major rivers and creeks.
The Bacolod-wide operation aims to remove at least 2 millions of cubic meters of silt and debris in the city’s waterways.
Meanwhile, a Technical Working Group was created to draft a Flood Mitigation Masterplan that will serve as a blueprint for the long term solution for the flooding issue of Bacolod.
The group will be taking all the recommendations presented by various stakeholders during the summit.*
