The Provincial Development Council (PDC) of Negros Occidental, which laid down their future programs for the development for the province on Thursday, approved a proposed P2,118,500,000 supplemental Annual Investment Program (AIP) for the year 2026.
Most of the proposed budget will be allocated for the construction and upgrading of the provincial roads networks, and other infrastructure, with P680 million allocated in the budget.
Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz II, who presented the 2026 AIP during the meeting held at the Nature’s Village Resort in Talisay City, said that the budget aims to improve connectivity and stimulate economic growth across the region.
“This investment is crucial for the continued development of Negros Occidental. Improved infrastructure will not only ease transportation but also attract more investments and opportunities for our constituents,” he said.
Meanwhile, almost P600 million will be allocated for the provincial integrated safe water program, which aims to address the province’s water security challenges, including a significant portion of the population lacking access to water and sanitation.
Included in the budget is the rehabilitation of the damaged roads, bridges, and infrastructure, including the renovation of the Negros Museum – the cultural and historical repository of the province.
The 2026 AIP will be submitted by the PDC to the Provincial Board for approval.
Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson presided over the meeting. Present also were various municipal and city chief executives and departmental directors under the provincial government.*
