BY GILBERT P. BAYORAN

Negros Occidental gubernatorial aspirant John Orola yesterday said that PDDS (Pederalismo ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan), where he is affiliated with, will support the vice-presidential bid of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.

Orola, who is challenging incumbent Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson in the 2022 gubernatorial race, said “although we have not received any official instruction yet, but the way it is being explained to me, our VP candidate will be Mayor Sara.”

Duterte-Carpio is a member of the Lakas-CMD, while PDDS presidential candidate is Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go.

PDDS, which is affiliated with PDP-Laban faction led by Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi, has no vice-presidential candidate.

Being a member of PDDS, where President Rodrigo Duterte, who is a senatorial candidate, and presidential standard bearer Go are both members, Orola said he is now in a position to have a “better fight” with the incumbent governor.

Lacson is affiliated with Nationalist People’s Coalition.

All mayors in Negros Occidental have earlier pledged their full support to the tandem of Lacson and his running mate, Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer, for their reelections.

Since the PDDS is a ruling party, which has an alliance with PDP-Laban, and I am the only one running under PDDS, therefore, that would be a good fight also, because I was given the chance also to get the right people and some officials, who might want to join us, Orola said.

While not a single incumbent official is supporting him, Orola said about 15 candidates in the province are PDDS members, and some independent candidates are also aligned with him.*
