PDEA K9 detects weed in courier hub

• THERESA MAE DULMAN

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency – Negros Island Region (PDEA-NIR) intercepted 80 grams of suspected marijuana following a K9 inspection at a courier warehouse located in Barangay Junob, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, on February 24.

During the inspection, operatives recovered a medium transparent vacuum-sealed plastic containing suspected dried marijuana bricks weighing approximately 50 grams and a medium transparent vacuum-sealed plastic containing suspected dried marijuana leaves weighing approximately 30 grams.

Also recovered were one glass tube, one sticker bearing the lettering ‘WIZK HIGHDOL,’ and the plastic packaging.

While no arrests were made at the scene, PDEA investigators are currently tracing the parcel’s documentation to identify both the sender and the intended recipient for prosecution under Republic Act 9165.

In a statement, the agency reiterated its commitment to tightening coordination with logistics providers to ensure that courier networks are not exploited by drug traffickers.*
